Competency Model and CPLP Session (2:45-3:30 p.m.)

ASTD Competency Model and CPLP Certification: Tools for Higher Education (First 40 attendees receive a complimentary copy of the ASTD 2004 Competency Study)

What is workplace learning and performance (WLP)? What are the competencies that emerging and veteran professionals in that field need to know and do to be successful? The workplace learning and performance field sometimes eludes definition and is evolving incredibly quickly. To remain competitive, especially in uncertain economic times, professionals in the field need to build the right skills at the right time to be relevant and sought after by today’s organizations. Come hear about the ASTD Competency Model and ASTD Certification Institute’s Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) certification. Both provide roadmaps for the learning and performance profession and can serve as the backbone of professional development programs for individuals, organizations, and institutions. For the higher education audience, the speaker will describe how ASTD defines the WLP profession, provide suggestions about what content to include as part of curriculum design, and how the CPLP credential complements a higher education degree.

Faculty Forum (4-5:30 p.m.) – A facilitated discussion to identify ways that ASTD can support higher education institutions

Higher Education Reception (5:30-6:30 p.m.), sponsored by Marymount University and SenseiROI™– Enjoy complimentary wine and appetizers while networking with your colleagues
